The Railway is at the heart of Southend’s live music and social scene. Recently renovated, the pub has kept all of its unique character while adding a fresh look that makes it a welcoming spot for food, drink and great nights out.

Music is what we’re all about. Every weekend you’ll find the best local and touring acts on our stage, with live shows on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Mondays are open mic night, giving new talent a chance to shine, while Tuesdays bring out the competitive side with our popular pub quiz. Students have their night on Wednesdays, and food and drink are served all day to keep the good times rolling.

The Railway has always been more than just a pub — it’s a place where Southend’s creative spirit thrives. Legendary guitarist Wilko Johnson, a local hero, often made The Railway his home stage, playing impromptu sets that are still talked about today.
